My coupe just arrived from the US. l'm looking for info from anyone , l want to stuff my Hemi in it, but mine has the extended block. has anyone got picks to show how much space l'm going to have let inside the cab? l have a Toploader and a th350 to choose from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Dave.
No advise, but WOW! That car is beautiful! You're hanging brass, that's for sure! Good luck and have fun!
The manual would be better, as the T350 will extend back too far. You might also consider a C4, as it has a detacable bellhousing. Whats happening with the original running gear?
Thanks. l'm not sure yet , l've got another frame so i might just roll this one out and rod the other one. Maybe keep it for a 4banga roadster pickup project. Regardds Dave.
Here is a build thread using the long block .... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=647364&highlight=hemi+model And here is the hemi-dex ... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118764
Wilcap makes adapters for your block. Someone out here makes the hemi/C4 adapter. Might it be the Fountains?
Great looking 'A' Dave. Toploader trans, I say. But you'll have to do some home work. Rodders have been making odd things fit together for years. CM
wow thats one clean coupe. Your going to have to do some serious reinforcing to that frame to handle the weight of the hemi. Thats one of the reasons I chose a 32 frame but I believe you could use Model A frame as far as width goes maybe definetly cant use stock location of steering box because started and head make it a very tight spot even on my 32 frame. I beleive your going to have some problems with firewall clearance though also your hood if intending to run one will have to have "bubbles" put in it to clear the heads. As far as an automactic goes the only one Ive seen fit to a extended bell hemi is a Touqueflite that they cut the bell off of. But theres a few chooses for standard shift. I used a Hot Heads adapter to use a GM standard Trans because I liked how it had a provision for a throw out fork. Good Luck with your build
Here's mine...finished a few years back....It's still loud, but not that fresh and clean anymore! I used the kit that Hot Heads sells for the 727 with the bell cut off. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205764
From what I've read you will need to turn the firewall around and a short water pump and pulleys and possibly a (choke) elect. thermo fan . Look forward to your progress ...
Nice coupe, To work out the inside cab creature comforts and sizes just make up a bit of a cardboard mock up that you think will cover the rear of the engine and gearbox,
No real help, but I believe Jimmy White's Model A runs an extended bell 331 hemi... http://youtu.be/AxAW3oV8tw8
Loudpedal's Green Grenade has/has the extended bell hemi. Man thats a nice car, its going to be a beautiful hot rod.
No advice, but DAMN there's a group of restorers forming a lynch mob! Good luck with it. It's always a treat to see a Hemi put in a rod.
Oh my god what a beautiful car. It would be a shame to hot rod it! Just kiddin' chop that bitch, box the frame and make it fit, Larry
Here's ours! Has a GM 200 4R with Lightning rod shifters....you're probably better off with a 4 speed since you're limited on space. It's pretty tight with the Automatic.
Sorry to dissapoint every one ,but l just scored this, l'm thinking l'll go a different direction..... At least the flathead is a runner. $$$$ l've still gotta try and finish this freakin' thing.... Very confused , Regards Dave.
How about this... I'll take care of the model A and the HEMI that is never ever going to fit in the Model A for you and you can finish off your Deuce... Trust me on this... Good things you've got happening Dave! Keep us posted! HC.
