Glad things didn't turn out bad, but...... damn. When you're working around fuel, you HAVE to keep an eye out for the stupid shit. Crap, when I pump gas at a station, I'm looking at everyone else and my car.

I hate to hear and see these stories. It keeps me employed when people do careless things like this and a fire happens. But being a hotrodder I hate to see it. Fire extinguishers are cheap and you should not only have a couple in the shop/garage but one in the car. Nothing worse then to have a fire in your sled on the road in the middle of no where and not have anything to put it out. They are just as important as any tool in the shop.

When i was in the navy, I was trained how to use water to contain and extinguish a gasoline fire with water.
It can be done. You also can spread the fire with water. Its all in the tectnique.
I would not stand by and watch it burn if I had a good hose. (After I called the fire dept. first)
As another poster stated, a lot of dirt can contain the flames and help put it out.

I instaled and maintain a hose in my shop just for that purpose.

I have a friend in the fire protection business. She gave me three giant ABC extinguishers for the garage. She was also kind enough to give me two Halotron (?) clean agent units. Fire terrifies me. I was caught in a burning garage at 16 and barely escaped with my life.

    Choprods,
Search YouTube for Firefighter Training House Explosion.
We have used it as a "What If" training video at my firehouse in the past.
    It's an eye-opener!
    Best regards,
    Jimmy

At 1:56 in, put the popcorn and beer down. Unless you don't mind it all over the screen.
