Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by dudford, Mar 9, 2012.

  1. Hello,

I just registered and I'm doin' as told and introducing myself on here. I'm hoping that I'll fit in, who knows, only difference is I'm in England and I assume most of you are all in the US.

I spent most of my childhood working on old WWII trucks with my Dad. He bought an old GMC 353 CCKW that was used in the film Full Metal Jacket which was filmed over here. I tell you what though, at 5 years old I heard that old GMC Straight 6 fire up and I was sold on it and anything that came along with the mechanical world! After that I worked on a rare old Ford F-15 with a mercury V8 with my Dad and when I was old enough I was bought a 1969 Morris Minor Pickup which I Street Rodded. I know all these don't really fit into the archetypal "Hot Rod" scene but its all i had.

I'd buy the magazines looking at the American Hot Rods like the 32' Fords and the 1948 Chevy Panel Vans and I'd think, one day, maybe I would be able to find something like that over here in the UK.

And thats why I joined this forum because I have found something, a Chrsyler 66 rotting away in the countryside, and I was looking for advice. I'll keep my questions for a separate post but I'd just like to say hello and I hope a few of you can unlock the answers to a whole loada questions.

    Cheers!

  5. yeah still got the moggy, every time i walk in the workshop i think i need to do more work on it, in fact i know i do. I also wanted to replace the boots on it, had some Torque Twisters but they have a little too much sidewall damage. Do they still exist in the US as a brand of tyre?

  17. I've spoken alot about the '30 Chrysler CJ6 I just bought but I thought I'd post 2 pics of my Morris Minor Pickup too just in case anyone was interested in these. They're pretty rare in the UK...

Welcome from Oklahoma. I built a '52 Chev panel years ago, had a blast with it.
