This is my first time doing one of these tech week things. I have been wanting to build one for a long time now and finally got a good deal on the steel I needed. I picked up two pieces of 6X4 I beam 11 foot long and some 4X4 1/4 tube. I also got the feet at a local auction dirt cheap. I wanted it 32'' high so after figuring out how long the legs needed to be I cut them and welded a plate with a nut welded to the inside for the feet to tread into. I also wanted it 4 foot wide so some more cutting I had the two cross bracing ready for welding. After getting it level both ways I put the cross braces in the used some ratchet straps to pull it tight together after checking for level I tacked then welded it together making sure to skip around making sure it stayed straight and level. Then came the legs just made sure they were straight and level both ways. Also added some braces to make sure they stay were they need to be. Then come time to flip it witch was a bitch doing it by myself it has to be close to 500lbs. After it was flipped I checked it with the level and it was dead nuts on. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I got lucky finding a welding shop the was going out so I got all the steel used for just over $130 all said and done I have a little under $200 into it Tomorrow my 34 frame gets put on it. I still have to build some stanchions but you guys get the point. Them would be different for every frame. I also plan on making a wood top so I can also use it as a work bench when theres not a frame on it
I've always wanted to build one but never have due to the space they take up when not in use, using it as a work bench or storage bench helps a bit, looks good but you need some young lady drilling holes in it if you want to win Tech Week!LOL

It looks great but I would suggest 4 more braces 90 Degrees to the cross braces you made for the legs. It may be overkill but will prevent any lateral movement.

Here is a pic of the frame up on it. My rails are pretty pitted and rusty so I split the X member out and dropped it off at the blaster yesterday and ordered new ASC rails. I should have the X member back tomorrow and the rails by this weekend. Once I have all the stuff I will built the stanchions and post some more pic. I'm using the Wescott plans for all the measurements.
Sure are I printed them the other day then went and had them blown up to 24X36 got it hanging on the wall next to the table
Nice work. I always wanted one but they need wheels for my garage as would have to push it outside. I guess you could add wheels without much problem. Now to find the cheap steel I beams.
I made one of the stations tonigh. Also got my X member back from the blaster now just waiting on the rails to get here
I got a few PM's about posting more pic sorry about the delay. A paying job came in the door so the table got put on hold for a few weeks. Heres what I did to support the rails there lots of ways you could do it. I used the steel I had. I still need to make one more for the front but I need to figure out how much I'm going to pinch the rails in the front. I'm going to be using a 37 truck grill with the rails tucked behind the shell. Junk forklift tower. I have parts off a high stack forklift. made from 2 pieces It is made from heavy stuff, a lot of 1 inch thick bracing., main channerl 6 x 3/4 thick C channel, and when I get it apart I can sell the half I don'y use, they are about 15 ft long. I have some old Nash bolt on spindles to use , mount mid on the sides. and trailer jacks to level it.
