all right guys i have found a chevy 6 cyl vertex magneto forsale in the box still and has never been used i am going to purchase this item for $1,050 is this a good price for new and in the box original
yes i would just like to have it for collect ability and there aren't very many of these around in the original box and i also have a 1954 chevy nostalgic hotrod with a 235 power-glide im doing how the car would of been raced in the late 50's early 60's with all period correct parts no new stuff on this car also i have plenty of time to work on my cars i need these to be going as soon as i get my license
Sir if you can afford it and want it buy it but us broke asses would just learn how to set the points and dwell on a factory distributor and use the money to purchase a good 302 jimmy. Later Mike
^^^ Sorry, but that shit was funny... Dude, if you want it & can afford it, buy it... that shit sounds expensive as hell though,,, jus' sayin'...
Rare doesnt always mean valuable I have a 42 Hudson Comadore 8 only 48 of this model built thats rare but try gettin rid of it. Its worth good money but find some one that will pay for it.
You dont have a driver's license yet? Do you live at home? Does someone else do your laundry?..... if you answered "yes" to these questions then "hell yeah" do it .... enjoy life !
What makes you think you need a Vertex Magneto on a 235? Of coarse it looks cool, but buy one for a SBC and have Bubba convert it for half that money. Same look, less $$, and will actually run right. Have you ever run a Mag? Not for the masses (obviously), or they would have been used a little more. Right?
If you were at a swap meet and you had 1050 on you would you have the opportunity to buy one... Probably not...
It takes about 1/2 a rotation for a mag to light. Next time you are around one just hold one of the leads and spin it... No, whens the last time you saw one, or especially one that would fire? I'm calling BullShit on all of it. Prove me wrong.
You asked for advice. Got the advice and basicly told every one to shit in a hat. That you were gonna do what you wanted to do aqny way. Smart I geuss
alot of guys didnt have money for paint back in the 50's and 60's all they could afford was primer so its stayin that way and i do live at home with my parents i just started highschool this year and i have been saveing money eversince i could remember to buy a car/cars and parts for them i also have a job at age 15 its awsome cuz all my buddys are jealouse of my toys well then if they are jealous they should stop playing video games and get a job so they can get payed like me i cant stand video games but whatever im into cars and thats final
and me and my grandpa just put a magneto on our flathead that we got from speedway motors and my grandpa used to run mags back in they i guess all the pics/ most of the pics of his hotrods show that he had mags on them so he told me that i could use on my 235 if wanted or just keep this one and put it on your shelve at home
Well a new mag costs that much and up these days. So if you go by new price it is probably OK. Something like that would have been run on an injected digger along with a cross flow head, but not in a low budget door slammer and by the late '50 any door slammer would have been running an 8 cylinder as a rule. Not to say that no one ran a 6 in a car, but it would not be likely that you would pop the hood of a gas coupe/sedan and expect to see an inline 6 by the time period mentioned. This is not to rain on your parade, you are not likely to find another and it certainly would make for a crowd pleaser. I wouldn't want to drop that much cash myself, but I have been living on a Raman noodle budget as of late. Try to get him under a grand, maybe closer to 8-900 and be happy if that is what you want for ignition.
your grandpa is crazy too. Nobody runs a mag these days, except top fuel cars maybe. Take that $1000 and put it down on a house or property..
