New to the H.A.M.B.

Good evening from GA.
I'm new, somewhat green, and just purchased my first project. A frame-off 1966 CHEVY C10 SWB Custom Cab.
I'll have lots of questions, so may I begin with an easy one (hopefully)???

I want to sit this truck on a 1964 GMC frame ( I prefer leafs to coils on the rear). Also, I want to upgrade the front end to disc brakes by swapping to a later model. I'm told that a '71 or '72 works well, but I also read somewhere that a '73-'87 is even better!!
Which is true??
