I got this car a couple months ago and until now i have been too busy working on other peoples cars. well now its time to do mine. I am taking a 55 Buick Special hardtop and putting it on top of a narrowed 96 chevy frame. I know some guys will not like this idea but my plan is too put a lot of miles on this car and i want the disk and antilock brakes. I am using the 96 vortec 5.7L out of the truck along with the 4l60e trans. I am Also leaving the crusie and a/c intact for the swap. i have lowered the body mounts and shortened the frame height so my rocker panel now sits flush on the ground. I hope to have more info and pictures up soon

Here is a pic of the upper a arm that has been pie cut so ball joint doesn't bottom out. I am using an L78-15 bias ply white wall it measures 29.5 inches tall. I am narrowing the frame 4 inches under stock I had the rearend shortened 2 inches under stock. I want a nice tucked look

Hmm interesting....it would be neat to run a nailhead in it vs some vortec bullshit

It originally had the 264 nailhead in it but it was very tired and the dynaflow that was behind it was also wore out. I was going to spend a couple thousand to freshen the motor and trans and still be limited on the driving ability It doesn't make since to me, I bought a fuel injected 350 and overdrive trans for less then half that. Plus it's obvious I am building a full custom so I don't think it really matters what the power plant is

Front end is done. I narrowed the centerlink today also(that's always scary) car gets 12" of lift in the front. And lays a 30" tall tire. Going to make rear links and build the notch tomorrow. Hope I will get the differential back tomorrow also. Body needs to go back on by this Friday
