Please help. I installed new bushings and new king pins and they are proper , no play. What is you opinion about the king pin inclination. Looks like 7/8" in 27" it could be more with the proper measurement. I think the axle is not bent right.

I would heavily suspect the dropped axle not being correct,

When measuring, make sure the wheels are dead straight ahead, if they are turned the caster will effect the camber

  4. I see the motor is in. Are all the other heavy bits in place?

  5. I would put a level on the floor along side the L square.

Check the kingpin inclination at the kingpin. As I recall it should be about 8 deg.

Working with the dimension given (27"), 1°= about 0.47124" (almost 1/2"). In other words, you're looking at just shy of 2° POSITIVE camber. DD

Leonard I think you got it right. Is there a shop in Mass. Conn. NY area that rebend this axle.

if the measurements stated above are correct ( i did not check) 2 degrees positive camber is what henry originally intended for bias ply tires. radial tires are recommended to have 0 degrees.

just went through this all after i dropped a few axles, i use an angle finder on the backing plate mounting surface on the spindle.

    with the wheels dead straight.

  14. After the car is finished and the final weight is on the axle, get it aligned by a reputable front end alignment shop. Adjusting the camber of a beam axle is no problem for any alignment shop that handles medium duty trucks with beam axles.

Brad Chevy I could post pictures tomorrow. The drivers side is more like 1/2" and looks right. Thank you every one for all the information and I will get it straightened by a H.A.M.B. Alliance Member.

So long as the floor is flat it could be out of level 45 deg. and the readings would be the same.:)
