I found this cab a few weeks ago. It came with some repair panels , top wood kit , 2 glass front fenders and steel splash aprons. I had a visor and light bar with lights. Picked up a Brookville frame at Columbus , and found a tailgate at the swap meet. Usually use a SBf but may go 327 SBC this time. Any pics of interior small brackets and hardware would help. Also door hinges. Have found some help in the thread search. Thanks
Very cool start with that cab. I live under a rock can you tell me what a Brookville frame is? Is it something like a 32 made for the A bodies??
Not sure if this is what your looking for but these are some very good shots http://abarnyard.com/temp/82-a/
Brookville Roadster Company, They make a 32 style for A bodies. I bought the regular model A frame from them. Good price and a friend hauled it home for me in his trailer and saved me the shipping charges
looks like a great start , i love those phonebooth cabs. i'm building another one hard to tell , but those headlights and light bar look like 30-31
You are correct lights and bar are 30 31. I have had them along time hopeing they might work. My T Body came from northern Minn.
Too cool! I just hope your not taller than about 5'5"!!! I had one years ago, and ended up selling it before I finished it because it was just too small. I'm not a huge guy, but at six feet and about 190lbs and mostly arms and legs I just couldn't get comfortable in it.
I put the cab together with a few bolts and clamps, starting to look like a truck. Next step fix the doors
Nice project! what exhaust do you use on your engine, this model? http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-Block-Ford-Tight-Fit-Headers,3822.html Thx
Glad to see a new kid on the block, had mine since 71, been on the road for about 25 yrs, looks like 29PU's , glad your using Ford, I'm 5'8+ and 200 hundred and to many pounds, and I fit quite comfy thank you, good start, keep up the good work.. I'm using a 302 in mine, fits quite nicely. no wood left in mine I replaced it all with steel and it is good and solid.
Damn you're fast, you make the rest of us look bad, I mocked together my A three years ago and it is still sitting there.
Always been a fan of the phone booth A pickups. Jake's from Pete and Jake's Hot Rod repair was my inspiration and I would own one today except for my plus size and the limited space in an A pickup. I'll follow your build and day dream of "what might have been" Frank
need some help , looking at the pictures notice the belt lines . They are lined up , look at the top of the door. Is this correct? If I raise the door to close the gap the belt line is lost. Also the way i got the metal so clean was to buy new metal
Yes it looks like its right. When you put on the roof material and hide-em strip it will look better. Also i used the aluminum drip rail over the door but some people just use the hide-em strip all around.I will send you a picture of mine later.
Welcome to the world of phone booth cabs. I'm 6'1''+ and yes, getting into these is a bit of automotive yoga. If you're looking for something that will be comfortable for hours on a long rod run, consider the Australian cab corners that add 6 inches. It just won't look quite right. I, too, am glad you went with a sbf.
Got the wheels and tires mounted today, also installed the saddle tanks. I want to figure a way to Fill both from one side of truck.
