Finally looking to get a HAMB vehicle...

It's been almost exactly 6 years since I joined up with the HAMB. I've learned a ton and seen more cool shit than I can remember. I have dozens of cool ideas for cars I'd like to build.

But after almost 6 years I am selling off my off-topic Mustangs (an '05 GT coupe and a '90 GT convertible) and looking at buying a summer driver that fits with the HAMB (mostly).

I've been kinda looking at '61 to '64 F100 short wheelbase pickups. I've always liked the body style. And I'm drawn to the straight axle front end over the I-beam '65-'66 trucks.

I'd like to drop it with a drop axle and lowering springs, disc brakes, an Explorer 8.8 and a set of 15x7 and 15x8 chrome steels with radials (I know some guys will balk at the radials). Later I'd like to swap in a mild 333 stroker 302 done up like a 260 with a late 80's five speed manual transmission or possibly a four speed automatic.

I'm jazzed to have something old. Always enjoyed driving my Dad's classics. Time to have one of my own.

It would actually be cheaper to run these than chrome steels, so....

Whatever you get, make sure it is as complete as possible.

Have always liked that body style. One of my earliest models was one of those, really dug it.

I'm 6'-0" and it's my one concern. I've never sat in one and don't know how I'll fit. I read on a different forum that the '65-'66 trucks have different floor pans that give more room. how much I don't know.

I found a '61 in NJ. Older restoration all like stock, 82,000 miles, 312, 3 on the tree, red. Looks very complete. Perfect for what I want. Don't know if I'll have the Mustangs sold before it's gone though. If it disappears I'll just keep looking.

I also have a thing for Econolines. If the right one of those popped up I'd probably buy it.

I sold my last OT Mustang today. I was thinking about a 61-64 F-100 but lately I've been looking at building a T. A hour after I sold it I happened to bump into the brother and co-owner of a welding fab shop that a friend of my mine from high school owns. He told me they just got a CNC cutting machine and he has an idea that he wants to weld up but no application for it. He tells me about this idea and I say that fits with the T I want to build. We're gonna talk about it some time soon.

yeah there pretty bitchin man. i was actually lookin for a 64 f100 like you the first time i went out lookin for a ride. ended up with a 54 ford customline with a mint body and a good running y block. ended up sellin it due to lack of time, later i went lookin for a chopped kustom project. ended up with my 59 apache. just keep the mind open. there are SO MANY cool cars and you will find a lot of shit you may never have thought about before in the classifieds section
