Progress on my car is going faster than anticipated, and I still haven't nailed down a color.

I thinking a green in the olive/avocado range, as opposed to lime or kiwi. So far, this is been the closest I've found in pictures.

This was taken at SEMA. Does anyone have any info on this car? If not, does anyone have any suggestions about colors to consider?

3. Good color. Perhaps a tad lighter would look good, too.

When it comes to nailing down a color on a build is always a tough one for me! But I like your direction with the green, I think that will look real nice!

Have you looked at Surf Green and white combo? it was a factory color combination in 57. GM also had a Laurel green in 57 which was close to avocado. You cant go wrong with period correct factory colors.

It's originally a surf green car. I decided that too light for my tastes.

Too asparagus for me: evokes 70's more than 50's/60's

so, are you going to do car stock style or mild custom or ? Imagine you have spent some serious time looking at colors. any color that looks good on one car can look all wrong on another. see if someone will photo shop some colors for you.

I've had quit a few black cars, now I have the need to move on to a new color. My new ride will be some kind of green, I left it up to the painter, who is a car guy and great painter to nail the color down. I know my painters work and trust his judgement, whatever shade of green he picks will be fantastic. Good luck on your choice.......:D

Mild custom, but leaning towards stock. I'm trying to to stray too far from the 57 aesthetic. Doors, hood, and decklid are shaved. Trim is shaved, but I am not completely sold on keeping it bare. Interior will most likely be a stock pattern.

Wheels will be? Side wall's? Your shade of green will play off those choices.

I'm keeping the red wheels and WW for now. I'm thinking chrome reversed or maybe a darker green.

do you have a color picked out for interior? everything comes in to play when choosing a color. i personally like the surf/ mint greens on these. look into the early 40's ford colors. they had a good olive kind of green they used. almost like a grey green.

i saw the work on the car when i was at the shop picking up the last of my things. it looked good. stoked they are staying busy.

This is what I'm leaning towards: 210 pattern, charcoal and ivory:

How'd it look in person? I wish I could see the work in person.

if you're looking for an olive color without metallic, check out Tank Green. it was a seldom used color in the 2003 pallet

I'm hoping to find something with a little less blue. I found this 56-58 VW color: agrave green. I might head over to the photoshop thread to see how it looks.

I found info on the Ford Woodie: https://www.facebook.com/surfcityga....10150449090165638.414377.229913480637&type=3

They didn't have much info but it led me to this advertisement:
http://www.thegallerydenver.com/index.cfm/0/0/24/1564

The color advertised is a '48 Ford color: Parrot Green Poly. Looking at swatches, it doesn't quite look right:
http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/aclchip.aspx?image=1948-ford-pg01.jpg

Ford experts and painters, could you weigh in? Is there some sort of finish that we're seeing here or is it just not the right color?

It seems you're pretty sold on a green , but check out Hawaiian Gold. It was an original '57 chevy color and great under street lights. Just my 2 cents.

HAMBers, I'm resurrecting this thread because doing color research on the computer sucks and I really need to make a decision. Blocking's done, gaps are straight, steering wheel and dash are cleaned up. I'm nearly 100% it will be a green body with white top. The Ford color in the first post turned out to be too 40's, and I've looked at a lot of late model paints that look way too late model for a '57 Chevy. My painter's been playing with colors and it seems to go from bobbie socks and poodle skirts to baby poop, really fast. I'd like to go with an OEM color because I've got a better chance of meeting the period aesthetic. I'm throwing some pictures up here to solicit opinions, hopefully from people who have seen these colors in real life...not that it's going to be one of these. I'm certainly open to other suggestions.

Pictured: 1957 Chevy Laurel Green, 1957 Pontiac Limefire, 1960 Dodge Cactus, 1964 AMC Woodside Green Poly, 1956 VW Almond Green, 1959 Desoto Surf Green, 1963 Chevy Laurel Green
