Features 48-54 Chevy/GMC trucks! lets see em ALL!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by kustombuilder, Jun 19, 2006.

  1. Here's one I did for my dad to give to him just because I think he deserved it so he could just putt around town. No time to do a total makeover (hey he's 80), but got it dependable enough and went for the shop truck look. He had one back in the 60's and had to sell it when my sister was born.
I completely redid the interior sheet metal, dash gauges, paint, wiring, etc., and cleaned up what I could and let him rip!

^^^^very cool! You should post some pics of your Pops with it!!

Nice trucks guys, keep them coming. I love the Green GMC a few posts up, the the stnace on the red one is perfect hotrod1970!!

  3. I can do that! :D

Here's Big Daddy in shock when I told him I had some good news and some bad news. I handed him the title to the truck and the steering wheel and told him, "The good news is, I'm doin' a truck for ya'! The bad news is, it ain't done yet!"

When it was done, I got it up to Grants Pass, OR for the "Back to the 50's" celebration where they shut down all of downtown and just let the classics run... Big Daddy's in the passenger seat, suckin' on a Camel and just enjoying the ride...

For the record, My dad's name is Hank and he used to manage Chevron stations. That's why I chose the signage I did...

This is our current father/son project we are building for our son's first hot rod. Since Nate just turned 12, I figured it was overdue. We started with a '51 Chevy AD that belonged to one of my dad's best friends who would often babysit me back when I was in diapers. He would drive me around in this truck at night to calm me to sleep. His name was Bill and he has since passed but I couldn't turn down the chance to buy his truck from his daughter when given the opportunity. We are building a chassis from scratch with bags at the corners. Plans are for an SBC or LSx with an automatic. Hopefully Nate will learn enough from this build to appreciate the fun in creating something with his own two hands. I can only hope he enjoys this hobby half as much as I do!

If any of you guys are still running a splash-oiler (or full-pressure conversion):

If you don't mind, please post a pic (or whatever) at the link in my signature (216 group). I'd like to collect as much reference material in one place as I can. (Especially modified cars/trucks. :D) Thanks.

Bitchin' truck, but I'd stop giving that women's store free advertising if I were you! Unless.... do they send you a check every month for that ad space? :D

^ You should delete your sig since the thread no longer exists.

A friend just snatched this one up and about to get started on it.
