---50 that I have been working on.

Looks good Tony! Looks like about a 4 1/2" chop to me. I'm almost done with mine ,maybe by the end of next month. :) Bill

  3. ---Yes it's a 4 inch chop. I have been working on this for several years, just to many other things to get done.

That is just... beyond words :D give us some more pics please!!! Question: Did you shave your Firewall or did you install a pannel??? I've been looking for a pannel that has the oval style and not the "box" style sold by bitchin...

  18. I know you didn't ask for a full run down but I was just getting ready for an up date when I saw your post.

I took 4 inches on the B-pillar, didn't measure the A pillar. 5'1/2 out of the hood and cowl. channeled the rest of the cab 5 1/2 to bring the bottom of the door even with the bottom of the fender. then added 10 1/2 inches to the rear of the cab.
used 49-54 chev passenger car front suspension that dropped the front 9 inches. flipped the rear for 8 inches.
running a 55 Cad 331 ci with a 58 ElDorado tri power and hooked the GMC Grannie geared 4 speed, back end is a 9 inch ford narrowed 10 inches.
Just added front disc brakes and under floor power brakes. just need to finish the headers run brake lines and it's ready to bolt together and wire.

I just brought this 48 home today. Too bad it's not mine (I tried to buy it) I'll be working on it for a friend of mine. It had been stored in a building downtown on the second floor since 1989. She just wants it to run and drive again. No hot rodding it. :-(

Give her some time, pretty soon it will be "it runs pretty hard on the highway", and you'll be adding an overdrive; or "I wish it stopped better" and you'll be adding disc brakes.

  27. Better late than never.........here's our original 1947 with 41,237miles. It's been in our family for 62 yrs.now. It had a repaint in the 70s, needs another one now, 2yrs ago we put in a new clutch, brake shoes, and fixed a broken fuel line in the gas tank. NO rust and it still has the original wood bed !! Runs smooooth & rides like a covered wagon. Still has those 700X15 8ply tires.

My grandpa bought a 55 GMC 1st series 5 window back in the 60s. When he passed, my dad got it and we rebuilt it when I was a kid. I've got some pics that I'll dig up and post.

The front end we had rechromed at a high end shop in vegas and it's breathtaking.

It sits today, which breaks my heart. Still trying to get my dad to let me take it over and rebuild it. The carb went bad and then the tank, and from there it has sat for 10 years. We are looking for a 302 or even a good rebuildable 248 in the PA area, if anyone knows of one.

Had to post these pics, dug them up from an old hard drive. I wish it was still in this good of shape. It has years of dust on it now.

  30. Finally got my 51 back on the road after 2 years of fitting new rear end, bolted a 06 Colorado rear end in, 3:42 ratio works good...so now I'm driving the shit outta it!
