Not cool, as far from cool as you can possibly be.

One of the ugliest wheels of the 70's

Nah, if ya wanna be real cool get an old set of steel wheels and paint em red! I had a set of Klassics on a 61 Vette back in the day. They looked good on it, but it prob wasnt hamb friendly, being shiny and all.

As many people have said, it depends on the car. They definitely aren't unique. Look good on mopar and some early chevy muscle cars. I wonder if anyone's adapted a set to a Karmann Ghia......LOL

    EDIT:
    -------
After my fingers vomited this garbage onto the keyboard, I thought I might as well google it! :)
Didn't find a Karmann Ghia, but found a Bug rolling on Klassics.

My opinion is, mag style wheels are for race cars. Especially now that all factory wheels seem to be some sort of a mag type wheel. Steel wheels are never wrong, even if they are red. Just my know nothing opinion. ~sololobo~

I got a set for my birthday a couple years ago and been havin a hell of a time finding the T-bolts for them. Staggered bolt pattern for my 265, too.
That said, the wheels looked good on my high school buddy's 76 Monte Carlo and he has the exact same set on a 72 C10 now (unilug! He was ALWAYS tightening them) but I dunno about much else.

never liked those wheels, they always seemed to make cars look cheap. when i was in school everyone with a muscle car had these:eek: BUT!!! there is an older fellow in my area that has a 60 vette thats runnin them with thin white walls! this thing is so cool! it has a heavy metalflake paint job as well:cool: he also drives it year around and has owned it forever! i guess you would have to see it,it just works!!

back in my day the only ones who run plain steel wheels red, black green what ever. were the ones who didnt have any money to buy chrome. we ran cragar ss or keystones.and some ran al. slots, but they had to be shined up. nobody wanted steel wheels.even the old hotrodders wanted chrome.i quess im still that way. just dont like steel wheels. like my cragar ss. not to keen on keystone.but if they were in good condition id run them.after all they are shiney!!

I didn’t think so when I yanked the gold ones off my ‘68 Camaro in 1999, but my dad sandblasted one later on and it looked halfway decent. That Chevrolet wagon above makes them look pretty good indeed.

    Still, I’m a black-steel man for now.

  24. If I remember right, in the 70s, Pep Boys always had a display of Keystones right by the front door ..... like they were really proud of them ...... see where I am going with this?

wow.. this thread was resurrected from the dead! These wheels are a love em hate em type wheel.. I have since seen several cars running them.. 2 cars had the centers blasted... and 1 had the black area painted silver or gray... in my opinion that is the best look for these wheels.. I do agree, that on a 70s mullet car ... its tacky... but, I think with some creativity, you can have a wheel that really is different from the cragars and t thrust wheels of the day. But, just like everything in this world.. its all a matter of opinion. some guys think its cool to run 24" wheels and run 3" blocks.. some guys think its cool to mess up a perfectly good car and make a "rat" rod. in the end.. as long as the dude behind the wheel is happy... i guess thats all that matters... .

lol.. but we can still make fun of them behind there back!
