Sold the coupe to a braver guy who`s setting it on a new chassis. I couldn`t bear to take it apart so the wife took an artsy pic of the `32 Model 18 in the driveway just so we could remember we actually owned one sometime in the past. She`s enlarging and framing it for the garage wall. I`m gonna regret this one leaving... Thought you all would enjoy the pic. I`ve never seen a stock one in person.
Well , that`s the beauty of the deal. - The chassis and drivetrain will live on in a traditional rod built by a third party. - The coupe buyer gets his dream car with a chassis he can drive anywhere. - I took a `35 sedan in on trade that satisfies my driver and interior room requirements and it`s my favorite color. Black. Everyone wins.
Maybe I`ve led a sheltered life but this was the first `32 5 window I`ve been near that was still stock/unmodified... Everything else had been worked over. Does that make the statement clearer?
What a stunning 32 i think your a brave man to sell it as im sure youll never find 1 as totally original as that 1 .....Mark
I'm with you on not hot rodding that one. Just looks way to nice as is. Good luck with your 35 sedan too !!
Guys over on the barn would be going crazy if they new that the car was being rodded but they are strict restorers over there. I too would not have had the cojones to touch it.
I wouldn't have been able to cut that either. I think it would be hard to cut up a complete running car.
Beautiful and amazing piece of History there...... I am sorry to hear it's going to be altered though ....
Nice Car. I couldn't mess with one that nice either. A guy at work just found a stock '40 Willy's in Idaho. They do exist but I've never seen one either.
At some point I would think that you would have to regret selling that one. What a beauty. Good luck with your new black ride.
Can't belive you sold it to a guy that making a rod out of it. Now I won't be able too sleep for a week !!!!!!!!!
When i get 80 years old i hope someone takes me apart and puts me on a new chassis. I could fix that little darling in a heart beat .
Yep. I was at his house a week ago and it`s sitting on a new chassis and the interior is stripped out of it. Small block/auto/9" rear I was amazed looking at the body. It has NO rust/no prior damage indicated anywhere. Amazing car. I felt a little guilty. But I like my `35 Slantback and have no regrets. If the coupe had been a 3 window I would have been the one cutting it up.
I'd put it on a new chassis without doing anything to the body.....they look great unchopped and full fendered.......and I'd drive it...so many put all this time and money in cars and just polish them...."That's like being married to Dolly Parton and never unbutton her blouse"...............enjoy the cars...DRIVE THEM
He`s leaving the body stock and fendered. Even leaving the cowl lights on and putting the original interior back in. I`ll post pics after my next visit.
