Heres a 55 Chevy belair that me and my Dad are doing right now not finshed yet but almost there.

Alright...this thread has inspired me to do it. I've been running black with red wheels since i built my car, and have been toying with the idea of painting my wheels black as well. After seeing some of the cars in this thread, i'm fully convinced that I'm going to paint them black now. I'm going out of town this weekend, but next weekend, I'm on it!!!

What do you think about leaving a small stripe of red around the outside of the wheel (outside of the beauty ring)? Also, think red interior would be too much with black car and black wheels? Even if i have red engine and red/black checks on firewall?

Thanks. I can't take credit for most of it. I sold a very similar one last Summer that I had owned since 1989 with the intention of getting down to one toy. That lasted about 1 month and withdrawals set in so I found this one.

 

I like the black wheels and with a single red pinstripe just adds a nice,small detail. Can't go wrong with a red interior in a black car as far as I'm concerned.

 

thanks Dan... to ease the Chevy man in you... it does have a built corvette 327 tied to a 3pd tranny in it... it actually came from San Juan Capistrano so maybe you saw it out there.

 

This is my Dad's driveway in Tacoma, Wa. A lot of hotrods have graced that humble piece of cement.Lot of good times working in that garage. My brother built that Model A rpu and it was part of the inspiration for mine. I did a lot of work on my pops roadster. Good times for sure. I like black hotrods too.

 

Thanks Bob. I love this car so much. I giggle like a girl when I see it. I'll never be able to afford a '32, but would love to build a Model A with the same look.

Here are a couple Buick, the 60 was mine, and the 66 (not so HAMB friendly) was my fathers. The paint on the 66 put the 60 to shame when parked by each other... that was one big straight car.

Here's three pics of my '55, that I've owned since April 1977. The first is from about 1972, when it was in Somer's Point N.J. This was several owners before me. The second is from 1979, when I got my driver's liscense. The third is how it looks, today.

By the way, this 55 Chevy is black, originally from the factory.....It's not an American Graffiti wannabe.
