Isn't there an old conversion mount that bolts to the front cover bolts to give it side mounts? Hurst or someone? Wouldn't be hard to fab the same thing out of plate. I don't trust that little biscuit thing, they're just rubber bonded to steel and will rip right in two or come right off when the rubber gets old.
Here's my 389 , I used a Hurst motor mount designed for 55-60 steel covers. My engine is a 66 and came with an aluminum cover and switched to a 60 (55-59 reverse cooling) cover to use this mount. You'll need an early style Carter fuel pump that the base can be rotated to clear the mount.
