i'm trying to remove the door panel on my '55 ford but i cannot easily get to the horse shoe clips on the window crank and door handle shafts.

i have the little tools with the different size and shaped hooks on the end, but i can't get to the clips.

these are unlike the clips on my chevy's interior and unlike newer cars with crank windows.

does anybody have any tips on getting these clips out?
    i'm very frustrated.

    um, yeah.
all horse shoe clips are basically the same right?

my ford shop manual says there is a specific tool used to remove these things, but it says to slide the tool behind the handle and rotate.

this makes me think they're not horse shoe clips at all...

  4. Some Fords had a hole in the regulator shaft with a pin set thru the hole/the trim washer is spring loaded and a little mean to get the pin out.....

i have used a shop towel to remove them before, put the edge of the shop towel between the handle and door panel and pull it the direction to remove the clip. the cloth will usually grab it and pull it off, you might have to do both sides of the clip. hope this helps hot rust

I've run into a couple of them over the years that someone had put together backwards that were a pain in the butt until I figured it out.
