Spalding magneto ID,please.

    Picked this up out of a scrap pile this morning.Trying to determine vintage.
    Spalding V8 magneto.
    Type S1-303
    Part no.3505
    Looked around on the net and found not much and nothing helpful.
    My guess is that it's for a SBC but I have been wrong in the past.

    I don't think it's a magneto; looks like a 'dual coil' distributor - it uses 2 coils, one on each side (that's why there are 5 places for wires to go into on each side)

    If it is, it's as cool as a magneto as far as being 'traditional'.

    Note: I have been wrong before.,..........:p

    Shaft looks a little short for SBC. Maybe Pontiac or Buick?

    According to the chart it is for a Oldsmobile
