    Hello!

My name is Joe and I am from Phoenix Arizona. I started my restoration of my 1949 Chevy Pickup on 06/17/11. I originally purchased the truck un-drivable back on 05/26/08 for $1,800 from a guy in California. I was able to put some funds together and get this project under way. Here are some pictures I thought I would share.

I bought the 1954 Chevy 235 motor for $350 from a guy in Prescott Arizona. I chose a 1954 Chevy 235 because this was the year they introduced the pressurized oil system and hydraulic lifters. And let’s face it the 216 that was in it wasn’t going to cut it.

    Enjoy!

    Welcome! Looking good!

FYI that motor its from 55 or later the water pump is in the wrong spot for a 54 and the head is from 53 and before in 54 they went to a 4 bolt valve cover.

I think I just found my new computer wallpaper. Your 235 looks like a work of art, my friend. Good luck with the build and thanks for keeping it a six!

Thanks for the info friend. The block is a 1949 for sure, the water pump I am not too sure on. It came from Patrick’s in Casa AZ. A lot of the original parts where replaced with aftermarket 235 parts to obtain the hot rod look.
Keep the info coming. Love to learn.

All boxed in 10 gauge steel, 11’ disc brakes all the way around, mustang II front end, 4 link rear, retro shock in coil all the around, stainless brake lines, Currie rear end, power brake booster, sway bar, etc for about $8k.

I hear ya! I know. I got a little carried away. Good news is the outside body of the truck will stay patina.

Im with ya. I hate the look of a modern engine in old cars and trucks. Plus I love the look and of an old 6 when its all dressed up.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a part made by Bitchin Products Inc. It is a radiator core support for 47-53 Chevy trucks.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the H.A.M.B.!!!

Nicely detailed 235! ... but I'm not following you on why it is "Good News" that you are leaving the body in red oxide primer with areas of grey primer and surface rust showing through

Well it’s not by choice more of the fact funds are running out and it will take time to save up for a nice paint job. So Patina it is for now.

Bitchin Products went out a business about a year or two from what I heard and several parts distribution places still show there stuff. I was hoping to find someone that bought it and didn’t use it. But yes that is what I’m looking for.

Well, if you havn't found it yet, we have a social group devoted to AD's.
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=132

Alot of AD specific Q's and A's there, and you don't have to sift through the sometimes overwhelming main board. If you have a question, chances are someone has already asked, at one time or another.

Welcome, and best of luck! Engine looks great by the way!
