    hello,
i am interested in artillery wheels that are 16 inches with a 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern. i have already searched but did not find exactly what i was looking for. i have seen some with clips and some without. are hub caps still available for both styles? is dodge the other manufacturer with a 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern? i am at work early so i can't post any pictures. thanks and happy new year.

Chryslers, Ford, Graham, and Studebaker had 5x5.5 bolt pattern "artillery" wheels. Oldsmobile all had 5.5 bolt pattern, I think you might be mistaken what car your wheels are off of.

The wheel in that hubcap adapting thread is a 16" Kelsey Hayes Ford artillery wheel.

Yep, I just posted it because he was asking about caps and I know you usually can't buy caps for anything other than Ford, but I am all ears if you know a source.

I had these on an ex-car. I'm not sure who made them but they bolted right on to the Ford pattern. Some "experts" told me Chrysler, some said Studebaker. The early Ford caps fit as well.

Here they are with and without caps.

Those are 100% positively Kelsey Hayes artillery wheels made for Ford car and truck applications.

1936 Buick Roadmaster had 16 x 5 on 5-1/2 artillery wheels with clips for hubcaps. I modified mine on my 1933 Ford 3W by drilling the centers and using button head Allen fasteners to secure 1940-48 Ford hubcaps.

I would have had a tough time selling that car. Do you know where it is and what it is doing?

I do miss it I sold that car at the height of the '32 buying frenzy. I drove it to the LA Roadster show and a guy there HAD to have it. I kept the hood sides, and we were both happy with the deal.

Are you sure those are Buick? The biggest way to tell the difference is the manufacturer, Motor Wheel Corp made Buick's artillery wheel. Not Kelsey Hayes And the width, Buicks are 5" wide and Ford's are 4.5" wide.

Regular old Ford hubcaps fit those Kelsey Hayes artillery wheels btw.

I've got a set of 3 I'm trying to get rid of... the rims are pitted, but the centers are pretty nice. 5x5.5 bolt pattern too!

Are you looking for originals or will you settle for Repops?

No, most definitely not general jumbo wheels.

Are you looking for smoothie, baby moon hubcaps? For some of the artillery wheels I use, I just by repop ones from ..... The lugnutking I believe they are called. The biggest thing is I use wheels that were meant for one car on another so you obviously don't want to use the original hubcaps so I pick to plain baby moons.

Wheel Vintique offers a 16X5" Artillery, you will have to use their caps but they are of nice quality.

  23. I bought a set of 16x5 from Wheel Vintiques in 5x5.5 bolt pattern, then a set of hub cap adapters from Jimmy at Rally America, Part no. AD5 I believe (Jimmy can confirm) for early ford wire caps (32-35). They look great together.
