Anyone have pictures of a '40 ford coupe traditional hot rod? I found one and I'd like to see some of yours. I'll be going back tomorrow to try to catch an owner around and get pics. Thanks for any pictures and stay tuned.

I really, really want one. But don't have one yet. There's a super nice one for sale in the HAMB classifieds...out of St. Louis.

  9. I sold my 40 back in 1990 qand am still kicking myself in the ass. It was mid 60s-69 styled buid and minor changes were done to it throught out the years. The final finish was goinging into the 1990s but the body mods never changed from the very beginning. The car was always a daily driver a can be seeb from the battle scars in the last too photos. Some repaired, others awaiting repair.

Just took one picture. No one was home. Looks like the house has been abandoned or not lived in for a long time. I'll go by tomorrow morning and try to talk to a neighbor about the house/car.

  14. Looks like a nice find. Dont scare the owner when you go back, and you may talk him into selling it.

Have owned this one for 45 years. 1963 wrecked. 1988 restored, and now a hot rod

The '40 Ford Coupe is the first "old" car I ever wanted when I was a teenage musclecar mutant. I hope to own one some day.

  20. I have a number of cars I'd love to build or have in the past but, my favorite car above all others has always been and aways will be a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe. Mine was an opera coupe with the fold down rear seats, if you can call them seats. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't toss a 32 ford Roadster out of bed ora 52-57 Ford or any number of other rod material cars or trucks. just my personal favorite.

So, start lining up and start kicking me in the ass for selling it. My leg and right buttecks is shot from kicking myself in the ass for the past 18 years.

here's a couple --mine and my sons--would suggest keeping it traditional--use 40 frame, dropped axle, discs, stock dash (one of prettiest ever made)--I like early 327's the best but that is personal preference--flatheads are neat also--I think a 40 should be kept timeless--not a big fan of aftermarket frontends and think they ride as well with an axle if set up correctly--I prefer a 4 " axle, stock 40 spring with 3 leaves removed, etc.

  28. One of the best 40's ever, IMHO. You nailed it, and it's an inspiration for mine. The convertble trim around the w/s is nuts.
