Just wanted to come on here and introduce myself. I picked up the first car I actually care about keeping. As probably everyone on here remembers their first collector purchase. I am new to the Americana years, and truly a newbie in every sense of the word. Hopefully I can find other members with a 55 Olds who I can look to for assistance. After all, isn't this what a forum was made for?

Welcome aboard from a fellow 55 Olds 4 door hardtop owner.

Real nice original car you have there. I had a 57 Olds 4 door hardtop that was clean and original like that right down to the wire clamps on the hoses and decals (original) under the hood.

Sold it to someone I figured wouldn't monkey around with such originality. Kinda hard for me to resist let things alone like that.

Gotta love that original air cooled 4 speed automatic, right?

    Welcome from Abbottstown , Pa.
My Dad owned one of 55 Olds Rocket 88 and I just loved that car ! That was the very first car I ever drove too ! :D Was a two tone blue and white . Would smoke the tire really good too ! That was way back in the early 60's . I was about 7 or 8 years old back the . Wish I still had that car !

Yeah Sir swoosh. The car is a dream to drive, and more power than I thought it would have. I am more of an original kind of guy as you can see. As for the tranny, I'm sure I'll find out how much fun it is to have. I've only had the car for 6 months. Heard its a great tranny, but needs to be maintained more frequently.

    Hey Steel......

As long as the linkage is right and the seals aren't leaking, there shouldn't be any kind of maintenance to worry with. I replaced the engine in mine with a fresh rebuild I lucked into. Wanted to go over the tranny while it was apart, but the shop it was in that specializes in automaitics checked it out and said it was fine. Cleaned, checked, and good for another half century.......

Yours should be to. Just keep it topped and enjoy!
