Here's a excellent 235 I just pulled from my truck to make room for the hottie 261 .This 235 engine had several modifications, including a hand made part not usually hand made. Can you spot them? What year range is the engine?

The "year range" looks to be '54 - '62 but why guess? Look at the date code cast on the block just above the starter, it's a letter, followed by 2 or sometimes 3 numbers. Also look at the engine ID number that is stamped on the flat surface just aft of the distributor. Post those numbers on here and we can tell you exactly what year and application you have there.

Well...It's not the Carter YF...so I will guess that its the remote oil filter.
It would not be '54 block. So thinking 55-62. Otherwise, you will need to divulge some numbers!

The motor mount bolt pattern on the side of the block is '58-'62.

I know it's a 58 block just wondering if the high mounted water pump on the adapter fooled anyone in thinking it's a 54 block...Should have concealed the side mount bosses :D
The remote filter is a full flow filter modification.
