I shortened the steering column tube between the steering wheel and the column drop. This put the steering wheel where I think it should be

Steering wheel looks good, are you going to epoxy repair the wheel, or have someone else repair??...Jim

I plan on trying to fix it myself. There is very few things on this car that I will let other people do

It had a bushing up at the top and the bottom went straight into the steering box so it had a bearing in there

Last night I machined the center of my shift knob out so I could put my grandpa's saint christopher medallion in it. I have been working on the steering wheel as well. It should get a coat of sealer and primer this weekend

Did you weld the D shaft on or mill them? I know how you felt about Grandpa, nice touch.

God I love seeing young kids getting into this hobby...keeping it alive. Looks like you're doing a pro job, son..stay after it. Being a grandfather myself, the shifter hit home to me...good job. Make us old guys proud.

You sure are doing an outstanding job!

When you said "gap the top of the door" What are you doing to get the gap so nice compaired to where it was after the chop?

Thanks for the documentation of this build!

I welded them on. Used the lathe to keep it straight

I weld on the edge to build it up. where it is a big gap I weld some 1/8 inch stap on. As you tack it you can pull it around the curve. Then I grind it till I get the gap I want. It's a very time consuming process

I finished filling the cracks on the steering wheel. I mounted my mirror. I also had to come up with a way to mount the center of the steering wheel, but I figured it out.
