 We are helping a friend rewireing his 39 caddy converting it to 12V. The pos. coil wire is armored from the ignation swith to the coil. He needs to have a resister put in the circuit. Is OK to put the resester between the coil and the points??

No, resistor needs to be on the feed to the coil.

There must be a way to eliminate the armored cable?
