Anyone know if theres enough clearance to run an HEI distributor with an Offenhauser intake on a 429? There doesn't appear to be much clearance between the thermostat housing and distributor. It rotates some but I'm not sure if thats enough to get it timed right.

  2. Looks too close to me - Not to mention those things are Ugly as Hell. Better off to use something like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PNX-D132710/ it will definitely clear, look better, and eliminate all the inherent design flaws with the HEI.

That is what I was afraid someone was going to say. I was hoping to save some money and use what I had. The distributor came with the engine. They guy before me lost interest so now I'm trying to finish it. Unless someone else disagrees with you I will purchase a new one and do it right.
    Thanks
