Kinda hard to explain the panel making, best for you to look at others to get the idea. The sheet metal just lays tight to the tubing nand is secured - some old ones use 10-32 screws with nuts welded to the tubing - most often with dzus fastenors. But to describe the how it is done is trying to decribe how to do upholstery, there are a ton of special tools you need, lots of experience, and plenty of aluminum because you'll waste as much as you keep. Working the sheetmetal is a highly skilled craft, take it to somebody that knows what they are doing and you won't regret it.

  6. From your post, I am guessing you're asking about engine plates?

If you're going to run a BBC or SBC.... You can buy mid plates from any Speed Shop like Jegs, Summit, and most racing sites. These are pre drilled and you cut to fit. You also can get front motor mounts (saddle style) or always a set fabbed.

Like to see more pics of your chassis!

I would just cut aluminum slighlty larger than your chassis, roll it over halfway over the top and bottom tubes, and secure it well with dzus fastners.

For the most part use .050 3003 H14 aluminum , you could use 5052 H32 but the effort to work it increases about 20%

I agree with 'dreracecar' 3003H14 X .050, some people will suggest thinner but the mass of the 050 will help you shape it.
You have rear eng dragster right there with all the sheetmetal so you can see how the panels are made.
The FED looks like an unfinished project to me, i don't see any mounts for the rear, steering, chute, dash, dzus receivers nothing. It is just unfinished right? Can you see where any mounts have been cut off? It is a solid looking car and might well be a mailorder kit car and what you have is as far as somebody else took it. Some pieces of the way the chassis is made look familiar it is the area behind the rear where the driver sits looks odd.
Don't misunderstand me, that can be a very nice piece as rugged as the frame is built it was more than a sportsman chassis and built to handle a blown engine.
    Keep us posted, oj
