if don't want to see your engine , paint it black . if you want attention to detail ,paint another color . when you open the hood , it should be the jewel in the black box , not the rock in a bag .

It doesn't HAVE to match anything. Chevy orange is about as traditional as it gets:

    In my '55 Chevy truck:

  6. Is this Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory":D......Just jokin'.....my choice ORANGE.....it a SBC...however.......if you were to paint tghe car say an olive green metallic such as some of the newer car colors then match the engine to body color for a custom look...JMO.

Orange. Nothing Rhymes with Orange. Doesn't mean the whole thing needs to be orange though. my heads are black. intake is aluminium, chrome bits here and there too.

I have the direct opposite view. To me black engines always look oily and greasy no matter how clean they are. And they have that Goodwrench target motor look to them no matter how they are dressed out.

I've always been a sucker for Chevy orange , even on my '79 Z28 which was that mundane corporate blue , I still went with Chevy orange , the color makes a statement to what the engine is IMHO

BLACK........... My buddy gave me a bunch of chrome for my engine and I had it all powder coated BLACK... If you take care of your motor you shouldn't have to worry about oil leaks

  22. I've got 2 orange and one black w/orange pan, the black one is in a little more modern car.

Tough choice. Old orange or new Black?

Sell it and build a Y-Block, you can paint them ANY color! :D

Seriously, I'd get a color wheel and stand beside the car and make my choice based on which looks best with the car.

I did Black on my SBC. Like they said, matches anything.

Either an accent color or orange. Black is only ok if you're trying to play it down, but we build HOT RODS, all about the engine and going fast!

i'm thinkin a dark/navy blue for my model A pickup. i just think orange is just too big a contrast. not all colors go together. its an important decision and black would be alright but kinda seems like the easy way out also. red seems to be a bit over done but would be good with navy.
