I reread the Emory Collins Story as told to Earl Fabritz that was published in The Alternate a few years ago. Emory's memory was off sometimes a bit when remembering the years in which events took place, but his recall of technical details was remarkable:

I figure that would've been around 1928, or '29, just before he moved to live in the US and bought his own Fronty Ford.

  4. It will look a biit different after that exposed valve gear has had a chance to spray oil all over it.

Anyone care to hazard a guess what that thing is that looks like a price tag dangling behind the fan? ...and the fan makes me wonder why I've never seen a bespoke one.

Most likely, as that minimalist red key on gear levers box, next barroque horn and functional mirror, shown on post #7402.
Just jocking: that motorcar is a timeless monument to mechanic engineering. A mobile artwork.

Thanks for posting these wonderful photos.

What is the story with this Type 18? As far as i know only three, maybe two, 5 Litre cars are known to exist.

That car in the background looks very similar to the one owned by another Argentine who also posts here.

Indeed Mr. Kurtis, very sharp eyes yours.

  21. Like many of these specials it is probably quite a recent build, although most of the big lumps will be of the correct period.

  22. Maybe it is all new?? They have been building some very good replicas in Sth America.

I have been asked now and then to post some stuff about Walter Christie's front wheel drive race cars. I just decided to start a little blog on Christie car history and on the 1905 Christie re-creation that I've been working on. All we have are drawings to look at so far. Here is the blogsite.

    http://www.stohrdesign.com/1/archives/11-2011/1.html

This is the Christie 'Blue Flyer' at Ormond Beach in January, 1905. Following that are some drawings of the re-creation. I'm doing it all in 3D CAD.
