  1. I gotta ask....How is the angle of the steering wheel?

also do you have a drop axle?

Never mind on that drop axle..... 4 inch MorDrop

Do you have a dropped upper steering arm?

It's great as is. A chop would look cool, but it's also cool to see one un cut now and then. So long as you are enjoying it mate!

That is sweet, man, great job! I love the way it looks, and mine will look similar. I'd leave it just like it is. Mine will probably take just as long.

I put the seats I was going to use in my car and sat in it with the wheel and column i was planning on using ('36 banjo and column). I left the steering box and "A" flange not welded so I could tilt it to where I liked, and tacked it, I then made a column drop that bolted to the original "A" column drop on the bottom of the tank. My angle is pretty much the same as an original "A". If you dont drop it down and bolt it to the original spot its at some stupid T-Bucket looking angle.... I'll take a picture and get some measurements on the drop for you.

My upper steering arm is not dropped. Its just a standard old school hoop style one. With my axle being a '40, the drop of the axle, and using the model "A" perches. A '40 is wider at the perches. I couldnt use a dropped steering arm. I do have a bit of an angle on my drag link, but have had no issues with bind or anything, and almost no bump steer issues with it either.

Hope this helps you man! Anything I can do, let me know.

Looks like we are building exactly the same car! Im still torn on chopping it. I know if I parked it down the street it would look too tall but sitting in my back yard it doesnt look that bad. The only things non ford V8 on mine so far are the rear end, T5 trans and the mini van seat, other than that its all pre-war ford iron.

  16. Very cool car! I really like everything about it!

Thanks everybody! I'll post up some detail pics as soon as I get a chance. Been straightening out some wiring issues, and some other little things. Mainly having fun driving it though!

I like it without a chop. Maybe just run it for a while the way it is. You can chop it for a new look when you get bored with the look and want something different.
Build it the way you want...it's your time and money.

Looks great the way it is or you could chop it 9" and wear goggles as your head will stick out the top...

What did you use for the center crossmember? I can see it sitting lower than the rails in your pictures.

  21. Thanks Tank, looking at pictures of your car is great inspiration for me.

Thats a home made center crossmember I made out of some 7gauge sheetmetal. I braced it up real good in the areas that I mounted my front wishbones to before I boxed it in. I also have my trans mounted to this also. Seems to be working pretty good so far! I have some pics of it somewhere If I can find them
