Second ID of the evening... found this McBar Machine Shop trans adapter bellhousing today. I'm thinking it's half of a flat-head Ford or maybe V8-60 bellhousing, but really, I just pulled that out of my ass.

    Anyone know what this fits?

    Thanks,
    -Brad

50's Olds? Looks like the left hand side has had some material removed. What trans bolts to it?????? Butch/56sedandelivery.

Left hand side is the clutch fork window. It has as flange inside it, similar to what I've seen on '50s and early '60s Ford bellhousings for the clutch fork pivot.

I concur, except make it '49 through '64.

    13 3/4 inches, center-to-center.

    Sounds like it's figured out.

I'm referring to the perimeter, where the trans mounts would normally be mounted to; it should be symetrical side-to-side. Bell was probably modified for clearance, and a tail-shaft mount used instead would be my guess. That would affect the value of the part I would think. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I was thinking it was made to go with a Cad motor, and then it would not use/need the bellhousing side mounts like the Olds does. ?

After reading this, I just went out and looked--I don't believe anything was cut off the driver's side. It's too perfect for the average hot rodder to have cut off... There's also no tool marks along the edge, but most importantly, the edge of the mounting flange has a light bevel to it all the way around the perimeter of the housing, maybe 2 degrees from the mating surface of the flange to the bolt head surface, and that bevel is on the part where you pointed out it should be symmetrical.

I know this is a really old post. But I just came across it today, and if there is still any interest in it, this is a McBar Model CF-50 to fit the 1949-1954 Cadillac or '49-'58 Oldsmobile V8 into '49-'51 Ford and late 1951 Mercury. Used standard Caddy or Olds flywheel and pressure plate with Borg & Beck clutch disc #381850. Each end of the hub would have been machined for 45 degree taper towards disc. Also recommended use Delco-Remy voltage control #1118302.
