I found this car in the woods. I think it's a '49 Chevy fleetline. Please correct me if I wrong. The top is caved in, either from a tree or kids dancing a jig. The rest of the car is all there, it even has an original fenton visor. Is this car worth dragging out and fixing? How would I go about the top issue? Or, would this be best left as a parts car? Thanks

Do it, if nothing else its good practice!

This one took about a week to fix

no patches cuts or welding required, just some patients and a lack of regard for your sanity.

pop the big one out first and chase the rest around till your happy.

  11. The rear window is intact, so the roof isn't bent too bad.

Won't be a 2 minute job to fix the roof,
but you'll learn something AND have a cool car.

  12. Kind of ironic to have a Crush bottle on a crushed roof.:D [IMG]

keep that bottle around just for those occasions.

Plus my idiot camera wanted to focus on the wall behind the car so the bottle gives it a closer target!

roofs are one of the easiest things to get dents out of. you could probably pop most of those out with your hand

did a crushed roof for a guy a few years back. couple experts came by to tell me I would need to skim the whole top with bondo. the roof was already popped back when I got it, but it had stretch marks around the edges. little hammer and dolly work, and a shrinking disc and it was back in shape.

It can be fixed . Do the feet like explained before buy DON'T kick it . Just push slowly but be carefully with your back . the creases at the edges will need to be hammered out or heat up and hammer . Just take your time !

Better find out whose woods you "found" it in and make sure he/she wants it fixed before you do anything.

That looks like a pretty solid car that's lasted at least 63 years... You betcha it can be saved, look around here, guys have brought back stuff that was 20 times worse.

Thanks y'all for the info. I've just got to stop and talk to the owners and see if I can get it. Apparently it's been there for a LONG time.

Fix it, curved roof and easier than a flat roof. Those vent shades over the windows, if you have four (4) would be worth salvage price alone. All that glitzy Fleetline trim if complete is worth a good price as well. Then there is the wing tips on the rear bar, and centre fold down over rider, all hard to get. Adding more value is the Fulton sunvisor. That's without looking too hard.
