got it lowered and back together but having some rear end woes so no driving yet. 2 1/2 inch drop spindles 3 inch dropped coils 4 inch dropped leafs 2 inch blocks. rear is sitting on the bump stops . so it will go lower. gonna notch the frame this winter . before and after. perfect height for driving around these parts with all the crazy pot holes and inclines.
only problem i ran into is when i dropped it the wheel isnt centered in the rear wheel well anymore. they were off ever when it was at stock height. damn torque tubes
few more pics .... that means bored on a friday night. on the bumpstops. worried if i cut them to far its gonna go to the frame so im gonna half them after the rear end is fixed and see where that puts me. and one of that pretty little 216
they are gettin cut before its on the road. just wanted to make sure the ass end was gonna be lower then the front incase i had to put bigger blocks in .
I'm about to do the notch on my 53 chevy. I've been riding on my bumpstops for a year now. Just part of the game I guess.
Hell yeah, looks good. Damn I miss the six banger in my chev. specially the dual exhaust with straights. Rap and roll....
yeah still has the torque tube in it thats why the rear wheels arnt centered in the wells. i found a motherload of those air cleaners at hershey and noone really knew what they were it was awsome.
I like the stance! Looks like you might have to ditch the tailpipes, or route them differently after you ditch bumpstops and notch the frame. Kinda O/T but I had a 96 Caprice that had the rear axle off centered, it was a lil too far forward compared to the wheelwell, and after I lowered it, it looked even more noticeable, it drove me nuts, and they were all like that from the factory!
Damn, that looks awsome. The ride should be better as well. Send us some pics for our website gallery if you can.
I have 14's on the front and 15's on the rear of my car....then again its on a 76 Monte chassis. I'm a little afraid about going lower in the front as it has hit the driveway edge. I talked to the Coker guy and might try using tire (side wall size) to drop it.
A guy I know with a '57 truck with the same problem from flippng his rearend. He just took the bump stops off and runs a 1/4" piece of heavy rubber glued to the bottom flange of his frame. He claims it rides fine unless he happens to miss seeing a pothole or something. Just a short term idea so you can drive it a bit. NOT the right fix long term of course.
It looks slick lowered. It reminds me of the car one of the "older" guys I hung around with had when I was about 13. I think his road on cut off bump stops all the time as that was before anyone thought of doing a C notch.
