I'm looking for some for my model t that dont have some gay brand name on them, preferably short as possable too. I know i could go friction shocks but they aint right on a 1960 era car.

Second if not can anyone name a non chrome traditional shock in a short lenght??

Hard to say. Which brand names do you consider to be homosexual in nature?

Pete and Jakes? That is two mens names.
I don't know . . I might feel less threatened if they were called Pete and JANE's or something like that.

Just messing with you, but the problem is that you hate the way the capitalism must "brand" everything with a big logo.. . not gays. I agree with you there.

Exactly. Let's keep the slurs (of ALL kinds) off the board. They have no place here (and are against the rules).

  6. If it doesn't have a brand name stamped in it with part number...its probably from China and you don't want it....

I figure if someone wants to be that picky and get down on their knees to read my shocks, they have more problems than I care to know about. Personally, I worry more about if something works right than what it looks like. :)

My freeze plugs also say Dorman on them, don't you just HATE that?

The chrome Bilstein's just have a sticker. El Polacko can get you hooked up with the right ones.

I got the Bilstein hot rod shocks for my model A and they only have a sticker on them that peels off. They make 2 different lengths. I bought mine from Posies along with my spring. They were a few bucks cheaper than Speedway and great to deal with also.

Front shock for a 1950 Plymouth, they are short, have the upper cover, $22.99 each at O'reilly's and readily available. Monroe # 5752, that is what I am running on the front of my Model A pickup. If you do a search on the Monroe site, you can find the compressed and extended length.

As soon as I can afford the Bilsteins I'm going to get a set. I've really liked what I have read about them so far.

I like the P&J s covered shocks, i put them in the front and they work fine, if you mount them turned one way you see alot les of the lettering, plus its reall small.

oh an dit looks like posies is a dealer for Bilstein shock.

Here is a link to the page where you can find information on lengths.

Feel free to PM me or send me an Email and I can set you up.

  18. From the testimonial page, They look pretty normal and non-gay

  19. I used SoCal painted shocks. They are red. But I wiped that off with lacquer thinner and sprayed them black. They do have a pressed in SoCal logo. Hard to see with the black paint.

Yea, i have that problem bad, I'm trying to keep my car 100% period correct, and that kind of stuff really turns me off on a car, Yes i have 56-57 stewert warners, yes '57 chromed rams horns, yes i'm welding up my wishbone ends to make them not look speedwayish......

Also as for pro shocks, the set i have at home have the name stamped right in, yuk!!

    Thanks guys!!

I put on some So-Cal shocks on my car this yaer that replaced the Pete and Jakes, I could not keep the front end calmed down. The So-Cal's is a gas shock and was a night and day difference.

Someone told me way back that the short covered shock sold by P&J was a Corvette part.

Never tried to find them at the parts store though-

I bet Lynn Bird knows, he probably told me that!

  26. Hmmm I've been wondering if I could find a off the shelf part to run. ANyone have any more info?

  27. I heard the P&J shocks are the same as 63 Corvette rears.

  28. SoCal also has chrome.
