Great work in saving this body. Based on the as found photos I'm guessing the doors are from another 3Window correct?

 

It will take some serious BALLS to save that one. It appears you have them...

 

No, the doors are the original. We cut the inner structure off and got everything straight. Now only the upper part of the door needs to be fixed, but will be able to do this when roof is ok. Need to adapt one to the other.
Work has been stopped now as we were waiting for some supports from Brookville and the drip rails that were completely out of shape and rusted. In september we'll work on her again. We are putting some finishing touches on my 32 chopped full fendered sedan with 3.71 blown 283

 

Wow - how´d I miss this? Unbeleivable.

 

And restorers criticize us for ruining good cars, I bet this is one that they'd avoid like the plague and not bother with, too far gone to salvage. I think they'll be proved wrong. And I thought I was ambitious with mine.

 

Ok time for some updates. Have received some stuff from Brookville, and am working on the inner structure. We have assembled the drip rails, so that the trunk lid can fit straight and even. Now we are doing the door hinge frames. When new this part was made with wood, but in my car all wood is missing. So welded the doors to the door poening giving the correct gap and then created a framework for attaching the hinges. We used L shaped steel and will use flat steel to complete the frame work. For the first time, today I have been able to open and close a door. Here are some pics of the work in progress.

Thanks for taking the time to post detailed photos of your progress. Believe it or not I'm learning a lot just by looking at your photos, things that really stand out are the main differences between a 3W and a 5W.

small update: both doors have been fitted to the door opening, the trunk lid fits in its opening and upper door fit in their openings....body structure seems to be square now. Will update tomorrow with some pics.

How many people like myself have thrown away a LOT better 3Ws than that one in the early 60s you have a very BIG set & I commend you for your tenacity I hope your time is free

you do great work, and i hope you got that piece of tin for a good price. i think 32;s are over priced anyhow. but im not real picky so id be happy with anything older than 57.. choose 57 chev cut off date for no other reason other than i like it like a billion other guys.chris.
