i was building my stude to drive on the street and run it at maxton sometimes. well after this year, maxton will be gone.so i thought about making it look like a stude that drag raced in the early days with a nose high stance. every body lowers them and i thought i would go the other way. if yall think this is a dumb idea, tell me. i've got thick skin. i am not making it a gasser, i just want the front up a bit. i need some inspiration. any body got any pics? thank yall.
Kinda like this? Not the "nose bleed" high like some of the stuff people are building nowadays, more like the stance I remember as a kid. Taller springs might do the trick. I did a bit of "body work" too.
This one always comes to mind but I imagine it's a little higher than what you in mind. Yeah I know it's a 57 Golden Hawk Gasser but kool non the less.
Those look aerodynamic stock, don't stick the nose up to take that away from it. If you want a "look at me car" paint it like a freaking rainbow but keep it low.
Kinda agree with all the above...cool looking car from the start. I personally like the photo shopped look, and if it were mine, I may raise the front end up another one or two inches! Do it with those cheap twist in spring spacers to see if you like it first! Good luck ... and let us know what you do.. Cheers.......
thank you for that. thats exactly what i had in mind.i'm definitly not going the strait axle route. i want it up because i would like to run some nostalgia drags sometimes.but i would also like to be able slam it down on occasion with a change of springs. its got a narrowed nova front clip.
oct. will be the last race there.do a search on maxton. you will find a thread about what has happened.
An old drag racing friend of mine said that while the studes always ran really good at the drags, there 2 piece driveshafts made them not a favorite. From my own experience with my 54, that shaft was one of many "rigs" needed to build such a low slung car so early
Any time. Sounds like you have the right idea for the suspension. No need for a straight axle when there are lotsa coil springs out there to chose from. What motor and tranny are you running?
Your car, Your rules....but they look sooo good lowered! whatever you do, that is one of my all time favorite cars good luck
i will be running a 383 stroker small block chevy and turbo 400. the rearend is a ford 8.8 from a explorer that i narrowed on one side.
