The prep for the trip started off ok, Wed. took the Buick and put it on a dyne. Straightened out the carb and felt real good about an increase in MPG and power.

It was short lived Thur. morning when I felt a wobble and heard a wump wump.

Seems most of the lug nuts got stripped and decided they didn't like me anymore. So the Buick said it wouldn't leave the state. That's ok, I limped back to the shop and threw everything in the late model I bought a few months ago and took off. It was on me and Zeke to make the Brats in the parking lot happen, and we aimed to get it done.

Headed 8 hours to Clarksville TN and picked up Zeke. Then we headed for Joplin.

    Illinois for a hot minute.

Then roads closed for flooding and detours, and wrecks, and trying to stay awake…

So we made it to Ryno's at about 2:10am with the promise that we'd be heading to Springfield at 5:30am. Oh joy…

But there was swap meet goodness.

We made it to Pappy's Place for lunch in Springfield on the recommendation of Flat Top Bob and Ben D . Good call. Pork heaven.

Then back to the Hotel and over the Autism Center for the kids. That was awesome and gave me a little lift to make through the rest of the day.

Ryno took us on a little tour of Joplin on the way back to his place,

    The devastation was insane.

Then back to the hotel for me to prep for the brats. I think it was a success and the Vagabonds can be claim victory once again. Zeke was the grill master and we served up about 140 hot sausages.

Sat. morning was donuts at Ryno's, he rules it so hard. The dude does not let up.

    ooh shiney.

Then off to the Drags. I got there to late for the red shirts, more non black shirts please…

But I knew we were going to be busy. Zeke was grilling the burgers for the feed. But I had time to hang with a few people and snap some pics…

So there were burgers and about 20 brats left over so we did them again Saturday night in the parking lot as well. All in all my favorite weekend of the year.

Filled my tummy with this then drove home...

  10. For me... Two events one should never to miss... HAMB Drags and
    lone Star Round up!

Missed them both for a while... but terribly!!!

  11. I wonder if that is where Von Tingler got his name. :D

Hey sorry to hear ya broke the Buick. He probably won't tell a soul but the fella in that '27 pulling Kerry's digger thrashed for 5 days to get to the races. he got it going about 20 minutes before he left.

  12. Sorry I missed you boys. I was up at dawn giving a toast to the sunrise tho!

I'd also like to thank everyone that donated. We'll be able to do this again next year no problem. I think we sold 5 or 6 cookbooks as well and donated the money. And Ryan sold some more at "Jalopy Journal" tables.

I waited at the curb for you to swing by and pick me up on the way. I must have missed you when I passed out from heatstroke after standing there for 36 hours.

  15. Awesome coverage, Scotty! Hope to make it out to MoKan one year soon!

  16. This Stude has been one of my favorites for years. I have talked with the fella who owns it several times, I know quite a bit about the build and can't for the life of me remember who it belongs to.

probably not one of the fastest cars out there every year but it is the real deal. Neat old gas class car.

And also a big thanks to Ryno for the bed Thur. night, the loaner grill, and just being a cool dude and a great friend. The other Vagabonds that actually showed up and gave a helping hand. Tsquared, Barn Find T, No Surf, and 2muchstuff

  18. Good hanging out with y'all, good times for sure.

  19. Sure, rub it in!

For the record I tried to keep up our image on the Salt, as soon as I put my Vagabonds T on the BLM Rang.....nazis showed up in force accusing our little group of shooting fireworks (we were not).

  20. Great thread. Food looks good...Perhaps next year, I'll head out that way after Bonneville.

That Stude belongs to Danny Graham, possibly the nicest and coolest guy on the planet. Here's a shot of his oilpan late Sat afternoon...
