The planets have alined and the winds have shifted and progress is once again being made on my wagon. The conversation has once again come around to "trim rings". I would really like to hear the opinions of others.
    With or without ?

How about some pictures? How about more information as well? Year, etc? Tough question without any of the above.

  6. I think it looks good without rings. If you do add them I would go with real narrow ones.

He's gonna have to buy you a bigger house in a nicer neighborhood if you put the trim rings on it. Go for it

Trim rings ( the small thin ones like came on 1948 Fords ) which would match the hubcaps would look GREAT in my humble opinion. But then, I may be biased. :D

I run them on my RED rims ... but when I run my straw colored rims ... I do not.

Either way ... the wagon will look great and I am so glad progress is being made.
I am sure you will make the right decision for you !!

  14. Trim rings for sure, just to plain looking..

  15. Without trim ring,,

With trim ring,,you can plainly see it's just leaning against the wheel the early trim rings will eat up some paint so until the finial decision is made this is as close as it gets.HRP

    Go with the trim rings!

  17. I think it looks better with the trim rings

  18. I'm with HRP but I think he and I have some shared thoughts. Before I put on the trim rings, I'd change wheels. I have a set of trim rings on the shelf but they don't go with much. I'm a huge fan of ranch wagons and I think you have a great car.

Not to choose sides in the impending divorce proceedings, I like the rings, but if you have any doubts in your own mind, don't run them, the paint on the wheels is outstanding...and hard to attain, and it will be forever lost the first time you install them....

I love '54 Fords, that is a sharp Tudor wagon there! Color is divine. The '48 caps look a little strange, (as do the 'solid' wheels) but if they are to be left on there, I'd do the rings and scratch the paint.

I have a '54 Ford Coupe, Mainline with all the Customline chrome...it'll be Wimbledon white.

  21. I like it without, and paint the letters on the caps red. Neato wagon!

i know it costs big bux, however if you get the wheel rim chromed and put the caps on it gives it a really cool look, kinda like beauty rings! just my opinion.....

  26. Mike the wagon has been a collaboration between Brenda and myself from day one, early on in the build she wanted 48 caps,,we have used them on almost every car I have built and the solids are a byproduct of what I had on hand in the garage. HRP

rings, i'd try to find a set without a hammer handle attached to them tho. it might make them hard to balance:D

You don't know me -- I don't know you, but if that sweet ride was mine, I'd HAVE to run the rings just for eye candy.

    :D :D

    SOLUTION !!

Just install the rings on one side ... if MRS HRP does not like them ... you only have 2 wheels to repaint :) :)

Can't beat that! Plus, no one can see both sides of the car at the same time. See how much you can get people to walk back & forth trying to figure out whats "different".:p
