Just when I thought I had the money to finish the roadster up, another project follows me home. Well, at least I can drive this one home and not push it! My brother (spitshine) actually spotted it a week ago, but I jumped on it. It's a '40 plymouth deluxe coupe, found 10 miles south of my house. It's completely original and runs and drives good! It's been stored inside for it's entire life, not driven but up and down the driveway a couple of times a year for the last 5 years. I took the old timer, who's brother owned it, for a ride in it this morning. I think he's around 80 years old! The guy was giggling like a little kid as we cruised down the road saying "I told you it was a driver!" It was awsome! The guy didn't know much about it, because it was his brothers car. He couldn't get the car into 1st gear to drive it ever, so he'd put it in 3rd and drive it up and down the drive way to keep everything spinning, he said. I drive it home tomorrow. This thing rocks, everything works except the spotlight! Gonna do some brake work and drive it as is for awhile......it's to much fun!
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!! Killer find, how much$$$$$???????, if ya don't mind me askin? If ya do, then never mind. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The plan for now is to fix the brakes, they're hangin' up a little, but they work great. Then just drive it, as is, until I finish my roadster. I still can't believe this thing fires right up and drives!
Duuuuuuuude... you are stoked. That is a bitchen car... and it drives.. and its be-a-utiful... enjoy..!
wow nice price for a nice car dude was just wondering how much more then i got it would take to get a driver well only 2K short but again sweet car i got love for 30-40 morpar coupes
WOW!!Thats a great car and a great score and a cool story. Bet that guy must have loved that ride Enjoy. Joe
Nice score. Man, there sure have been a lot of threads on this vintage Plymouth lately. And for all you thinking he stole this and making offers, I posted 3 Plymouths recently (truck, sedan and coupe) all for $5K, but no one seemed interested. I was going to pursue it, but I've got too many projects going already. Don't know if they are still available or not.
Get out the tape measure and see if an early Hemi will fit without too much work. If the 354/392 is too large try an early 241 they are much smaller. That thing is just crying for a Hemi. You might even try a newer 426 or a 514 (I think) crate motor. Now , as May West was fond of saying, "That would be something to see." Frank
Man that is a cool story Did you get a pic of the cat you bot the car from that would be cool . to keep with the car . -Josh
"Wow"..., how ironic is this..., 4 grand is exactly what I charge to touch peoples carburators...!!! Just give me the car and we'll call it EVEN...!!!!!!!! Or at least..., could I borrow it and take it to Mokan...?????????
