Yeah, this is the original (though with a new frame, old one was shot)...I think that Jim Busby cloned the original....
I have not stopped thinking about this since I got a look at it on Sat. I really liked it alot when I saw it in the TRJ but in person, its even better. This roadster is stuck in my mind like gum on my shoe. FUCK.... this thing is Gorgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing the Killer pics,I had a great time at the show.
Actually the swap is just Saturday and Sunday. We got there Friday and they said it was only for guys setting up. Somehow we managed to stumble in on accident when no one was looking
Funny I was told that by a vendor with whom I would have been, so I guess I would have been there on the Friday - if I could have made it. I guess I interpreted his invite incorrectly as far as the public was concerned. thanks for setting me straight .... for next year
Nice pix, thanx for posting them all. Does anyone know more about this chassis? Artist's deception of the project? Body? Gary
That's a car built by Jackie Howerton. Sold a few years ago in unfinished state. Looks like Chris posted up some pics at SoCal Speed Shop where they're putting the final touch to it. Here's a pic of it a few years ago at the roadster show.
Thank's for the pic's Chris, I was busy saving spots or selling so I did'nt get to see much of the show.
Aye Carimba, so much mo-jo flying off these great pix I am ripped. Thanx for the shots of cars that are simply, off the hook!! ~sololobo~
Thanx for the update. WOW is all I can say. I hope the full story is in print later on - so we can see all the juicy details. Gary
There's a great article and bare metal feature on the Jackie Howerton roadster in The Rodder's Journal no. 38. Also I read somewhere that the finished car will debut at the Grand National Roadster Show.
Nothing big, I'm pretty broke right now after the new purchase, so I had to limit myself BUT, if you have a project and some money, that would be the place to be!
I wonder how many years separate the 2 ads? Estimates put this ad as mid to late 60's, possibly '67 .
I recall that Kofoed had the car at the Hollywood Bowl show in '61, so the Flint ad had to preceed that. We moved to the same general area of Woodlake in early '61 and it was close to the end of housing developement to that point, so I'd guess the ad was '59 or '60.
