hey there hambers I wanted to show you my progress on the bonny.. I have noting to compare it to here in holland, so let me know what ya think! Here is work in progress on the roof! Flaked the steering wheel...looks better IMHO Bottom half will be satin yellow with minor scallops and pinstripes. Im so happy with the new looks! back 2 work sanding down these land yachts is a time robbing hobby Thanx for looking, please leave some feedback More pics and other crap here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v51/pixelterror/
Looks sweee-eet. I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you learn how to do this. Is their a tech article about this somewhere. I would love to do this on my 64. I have read some posts about which gun to use and what size tip to spray with. but most of it seems to be shooter preference?
Thanx man, is just practiced on a surfboard that i bought for 5 euros. The spray Guns i used for the primer and flakes 1.8MM nozle Then a 1.2/1.4 for the clearcoat. Sprayed primer on first, then the gold basecoat. Flaked the roof 5 times. Keep the clear nice and fluid not to much paint thinner, the fklakes wil go straight to the bottom and the result wil suck. The layed on some more clear(nice n thin, 4 layers or so) Then sand it down till ist evenley sanded. Spray on more clearcoat(2 layers) Lay out the patern you want, mask the rest of the car.. Take a deap breath and a zip of the beer... Lay out the lace on the roof, take your time, you dont want wrinkles in it etc. Then spray on the layer of paint on top of the lace. Spread it evenley...count if you want.. take of the lace asap and woila....get rid of the tape..let it rest for a fewn minutes...spray on some more clear...and polish the last layer Hope its understandable, english isnt my language Wheels gone get painted, and im keeping the 8 luggs on To strange to take them off
Nice Poncho! Also your English is okay, to read. I sometimes see post that are hard to read, due to the guy at the keyboard having just too many beers.
Hate to be the lone negative, but I didn't like lace back in the day, and still don't 30 years later. That style came and went pretty quickly, and for good reason.
...somebody piss in yer Cheerios this mornin' or what Rich? I ain't a fan of FED's but certainly wouldn't remind you that they also had their day in the sun quite a while back......jeez ...oh, and I won't be lacin' any of my vehicles either but that Poncho does look sweet. Nice work basezum
