What a beautiful car bro, really like the way you are doing it. Will be an awesome cruzer, congrats and good luck with the project. ~sololobo~
Where did you get that front end. Its a nice looking peice. I know Fat Man makes dropped spindles for the original suspension but thats a good looking installation. My 41 5 passenger Plymouth business coupe is at the media blaster being stripped so I'll have to make a decision soon.
I was able to get my 360 in without cutting the firewall. I used a plastic teardrop mallet and "massaged" a depression into the passenger side. I'm also keeping the stock front suspension and putting a Cavalier rack and pinion in mine. Different strokes! Keep up the good work!
Thanks powhatan42.I was at a family graduation yesterday, and my cousin told me i should install a 2006 hemi my son in law has with 30,000 miles on it.The name hemi on anything sounds good even if it is not an old one.I don't know what to do.To quote Steve Martin,"I'am confused" My son in law sayes this the time to do it if i want. What do you guys think?
Naw, stay w/ Plan A and go w/ the older 360. Ya don't really want to get involved w/ one of those new electronic marvels w/ all the wires, do ya? Keep a sweet old Mopar simple and traditional......
The 5.7 is a powerful, albeit non-traditional, engine and can easily make 425hp, but at the cost of alot of electronics. There are stand alone wiring harness packages available but they are not cheap. Check in at: http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/private.php http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/ There are several 5.7 swaps that may help answer questions. A basic pre-computer v-8 is hard to beat in its simplicity. .
I agree, and I just decided to go old school 392 for the big bucks. I have a guy with a 5.7 Hemi that has only 300 miles on it and I past on it to get a '58 392. The cost difference is 14G. more! Just take a look at Farmer12's thread and look at his Hilborn injected 392. There are many choices, like the 440 pre '70 blocks, but I want a Hemi in my coupe.
You're showing great progress! That m2 set up looks very nice. And I'm glad you're going with plan a. Wise choice!
Thanks.I just couldn't get use to the idea of a computor in my car.I am about ready to drop the engine in since the mounts are made and in place.Engine needs some inspection since some oil leaked out of it when tilted.
Have you guys seen the crate engine that Indy Heads offers? The initial cost of a Firepower plus the high cost of rebuilding it compared to this engine one could almost spend more on the Firepower. This engine will bolt up to a Mopar 518 (which I already have) which eliminates the $500 cost of an adapter. This engine doesn't require a computer, comes with 2-4s and looks like a 426. 400 hp $6995 http://www.indyheads.com/oldschool.html
Nothing done in the last two weeks.Ineed to separate the engine from the trans and check the main seal since it leaked oil when we set in place to make the motor and trans mount. Thanks for asking.
I like it. My dad has a '40 Plymouth coupe. It's all original now. I've got a 76 Chrysler with a 360/auto I've though about just keeping for the motor and transmission as I'm probably going to stop driving it to focus on other rides. I will probably sell it though as I've got a 413/push button auto(not sure how well I could transfer that into another car though) and know of a couple big block New Yorkers in the area.
Hi everyone. Finally got my credit cards paid off.Now back to the drawing board, disc brakes caliipers on rear rub on frame.Need to figure out what to do.Maybe after market brakes-Will check into it.I have enjoyed reading progress on other hambers plymouths. Exterminator
