I sold a 1966 VW 21 window walk through bus - all new interior, 1/2 the body work done, all 3 seats. sold it for $2500 back in 1991 to buy my 1st woodie. I bought a 1952 Buick woodie that ran for $2500 from the sale of the VW. I had the woodie for about 6 months.
I went to mexico on a surf trip for a week only to come home to find out that a local tow company towed it. They wanted $1000 for tow and storage, I couldn't afford to get it back and lost it all. Still bumbed about loosing that car.

toss up on the '56 vette I sold for $650 in 1974 (that's after I removed a '59 vette engine and t10 from a '56 belair 2dht ($250) to put into the '56 vette) and the '51 merc 2dr my dad sold for me when I was on a westpac for $25.

In 1969 I worked for a company in Mentone Ca. One of the salesmen had a brother that published the local advertiser known as "The Green Sheet". The Green sheet came out on Thursday morning but we would get it delivered by 2: P.M. on Wednesday. So at the 2: P.M. coffee break on Wed. we were all over it. I found a '32 Ford roadster for sale in Riverside for $100.00. So I feigned an illness and left work at 2:20. I had a hundred in my pocket and it took me about 25 min. to find the place. Yep a Deuce roadster, front horns gone, rear horns gone, firewall has been torched open to let a straight eight Buick stick thru it. Rear sill torched open for a roll bar etc. All welds apparently done with a volcano. I passed. Went home and told my Dad. He said "hell the doors are worth a hundred". Went beck the next day and it was gone.

my dad and i did not buy a 1963 mercury marauder that was offered to us by a old widow for $1500. she was the original owner. car was a survivor, seemed like it was garage most of its life. it just needed a carb rebuild.

the day we decided we wanted it, she had already sold it.

And a 71 challenger, it was a basket case it needed some serious metal work done, the firewall was rotted, the frame was ripped but everything was there, parts wise. Basically a kit car. The guy bought all the parts to do a full out ground up resto but never went through with it. wanted 5,000 with all the parts. No motor and a 727 torqueflite

1973-getting ready to get married (1st time) and wanted some extra cash for the wedding (dumbass) so I sold my 69 428 Cobra Jet Mustang. Hell, had 31,000 miles, needed brakes, exhaust, I've had it a couple of years and had my fun- sure, I'll take $1200.00 for it.
Same wife a few years later had bad accident, sold my 69 427 Vette roadster to help with hospital bills. Winter's not the time to sell a Vette in Iowa- $3200.00. Two years later, she divorced me. Go figure.

A Guy in Houston had about 5 or 6 complete dual quad set ups for 63-66 Buicks. Selling them out of his garage for about $400 each. I was a broke college student and only had enough money for one.

  23. I picked up a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT.
It was a factory S code car (390) with a 4 speed. Original color was Dark Moss Green.
It was one of my dream cars.
I got hurt and had to make some house payments. So I sold the car. The ex-wife at the time was pretty cool about it. She told me I could keep it, but I told her family comes first which meant keeping a roof over our heads.

I totally arm-wrestled a 1960 Mercury Comet 2-door wagon out of an estate sale for $400.

Hadn't run in years, and it had sat covered up by trash bags and two-by-fours with the hood off, but amazingly it was rust-free.

Only real bad news: it had been hit decently hard on the right quarter--but still fixable.

I actually found a side window and a tailgate for it before I let it go for what I had in it.

Still kicking my ass around the block about that one.

Not able to talk my father out of trading my 69 Super Bee For a piece of crap Dodge power wagon front clip. He had gifted it to me when I turned 15, then reneged because he needed parts for his crummy when I was 16.

I will never let him off the hook. He had it from when I was born until 16. Now I see the car every so often here in the Eugene/Springfield area.

In the mid 70's i could have bought a 1966 plymouth belvidere ii 2 dr hardtop with a hemi for $600.00 . Car had fresh paint , looked like new .

Motor had a bad crankshaft and brgs.

I worked for a chrysler dealer at the time . I had sold the owner new crank and brgs. They were in the trunk when he sold it!!!!!!!!
