    have you ever noticed that the majority of the guys that give you a hard time about running a "bellybutton engine", drive bellybutton cars?

    I'm not sayin that I wouldn't own a deuce or a model A, its just an observation.

    Question for those of you "in the know";

    Last night my buddy picked up a set of finned Offenhauser valve covers, staggered bolt holes (265, early 283). How rare are these VC's? They are in damn near mint shape, looking forward to bolting 'em on!!

    I just sold a set that I had repolished a few months ago. I wouldn't put them in the Hildebrandt-Weiand Block Letter category in terms of rarity but they are up there in terms of cool factor. In fact I think besides the Corvette covers those were the most popular back in the late 50's early 60's on Chevy's. You don't find them often these days especially the staggered bolt kind with no provisions for oil fill on them. I think that's an awesome score!!!!

    The only reason that I went with Hildebrandt's is because (A) I found a set (B) I found the OFFY's were a bit taller then I wanted (they clear adj rockers) and I wanted more of a low profile cover like the Vette ones. The Hildes are not as tall and so I went them but the OFFY's were damn cool I say!

    Polish them bitches up and run them with pride and the confidence that not very many people with have them especially on the early blocks.

    Right on.

    Personally, I prefer chromed stock stuff over polished stuff...but I think I better run 'em seeing as my buddy found them (even though I gotta pay him back ha).

    So far I have more VC's then anything else hot rod related it would seem :p

    Shit and it's for sale too. If I buy it tonight I'll only have 4 hours to drive it give or take.
