One thing I've never done is removed a steering wheel from a old vehicle. I need to remove the wheel on my 1954 Bel Air, Dose anyone know how or can point me to detailed instructions? - John
You need to carefully pry up the plastic cover on the horn ring first. Then use a steering wheel puller after you get the nut off. Theres a description of it on the lower left of this page. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1949_53/09steering/9_04.HTM
Yea carefully pry the plastic emblem off the center of the horn ring then theres 3 screws holdin the horn ring on take them off make sure u put everything back on exactly like it came off esp the thin horn contact ring it has a bevel in it. Then i think its a 3/4 or maybe 5/8 nut remove it then pull and genty tap steering rod with hammer if u dont have a puller lot of times they will slide right off
