Somewhere along the line somebody welded a steel bed into my chevy c20. It's pretty rusty and I don't have the time or patience to take that thing down to clean metal. Is their a bedliner that you can paint over rust? Or any recommendations? I would use por15 but I don't like the shine and I hear it doesn't hold up well in sunlight.
you could use the east wood rust paint. last time i used it they told me it could be top coated with almost any paint/ bed liner
Try painting it with POR, then with regular old bedliner, Tuffstuff, Ryno-liner, or Line-X. I'm pretty sure the POR will take paint over it. Recomended for frames aswell, POR then top coat. And you are correct, POR does not like sunlight, turns chalky.
http://www.por15.com/Single-Part-Topcoats/products/4/ Looks like they offer single and 2 stage topcoats. I can only imagine you can top coat with just about any quality finish.
http://www.kbs-coatings.com/ Pretty much the same stuff, compairable prices, Moderately UV resistant.
I use POR-15 on the undercarriages of cars I build. After the second coat, while it is still just a little bit tacky, you can apply bedliner, I use it cause it's tougher, and better looking than undercoat. Even used this combo on the entire interior of a 4 wheeling Jeep, for easy clean up.
