I'm usually the last person to ever say this but dude, seriously, do a friggin search. This has been discussed many many times. There is already so much info out there. Just take a minute and look. Every question you could possibly have has already been answered.

Now with that said, see ya out there.

Wells, Nv is about an hour away. They have a couple motels and truck stops for food. The first time I went to bonneville I stayed at the motel 6 there. As did Many others.

  4. We stayed in the campground area, next to the channel, last year. Lots of tents,trailers,motorhomes,etc.....and it's one HUGE party!!!!!! Did I mention,IT'S FREE!!!!

Only way to do speed week is stay at THE BEND in a camper or tent.
Be careful, it used to be called Scorpion flats !!! and I have seen some big ones lol

First of all all the rooms in Wendover tend to be reserved as soon as they are released for booking. Wendover isn't a big place. I have a 30 year old RV which is home for the week. I camp at the Bend in the Road. Free and fun!! Once you're on the salt you will need transport to get around the salt. From lands end to the pits is about three miles. Pit to the start area another three miles. Its a huge place. As far as eats go I can't help you. I am usually (and more so this year) on a strict budget so eating at the casinos is not on. The Salt Flats cafe at the off ramp has good food and not expensive.

  8. putz......bring lots of sunscreen and water. Bend in the road is where it's at when there's nothing else. The rooms in town are a frigg'n rip off!!!!

Putz: You HAVE to camp at the bend, or you can't ever say you've really been to Speed Week. Sorry, but those are the rules.

You can eat brealfast & lunch on the salt and dinner at the cafe by the gas station at the exit on the interstate. Its maybe 1/4 mile from the gas station/cafe to the bend and a few miles to the salt entrance then the rest depends on where the track is this year. Its doable in a tent but doesnt cool down until late. You can park any where, the bend can get rowdy sometimes. It can change weather so fast you wont believe it. Ive seen it go from 110 to 40 in a few hours after a storm blows thru. However you decide, just DO IT, its the greatest car show on earth. Bring your own shade & chairs plus mucho sun screen PS1000. Its cool in the Am but about 11 you better have some shade

I used to stay at the KOA in town, mostly because of the pool. But after coming back one day and finding my tent had been ransacked and stuff stolen, I now stay with the Bend in the Road Gang. Shoulda' done that all along. It's big enough that you can camp amongst the partiers if you like, or move out a ways for a little more privacy. Listen to what everyone is telling you, it's THE place to be.
Bring a wide brim hat, or get one cheep from a vendor on the salt. Sunglasses are a MUST or you'll fry your eyes out. The same hat vendor can help you there too. ANY type of small transportation will be a benefit. (See Avatar) Don't forget a digital camera, or LOTS of film. You'll end up taking hundreds of pics. The inspection area is another cool place to hang out and learn about what each builder has done, and you'll meet some real notoriety.
I usually hit the burger joints in town for their Dollar menu, and save one night for the Casino buffet. find the right night when it's cheap or it can cost you @ $22.oo for dinner. And the ONLY Starbucks in town is in the Stateline Casino.
Check my photo albums in my profile for an idea of what to expect. Seeya' on the Salt

You'd be well advised to check over on landracing.com, too - that's where all the salt dogs with the answers hang out.
