I love the way you left the paint on your car Muttley. My Polara is similar. Cali car , no rust , looks like its been hiding forever. That old street racer look . fuggin Ay..
Here are a few photos of a survivor '32 Ford 3 window coupe Gasser, which was offered for sale at the Spring Charlotte,NC Autofair Swapmeet. This car had been attacked with drill bits, hole saws, and a torch. Holy '32, Batman!!!
Wheres that tan Willys Sedan? I can't find any pics of it, ran back in the 60's in an altered class I think...lotsa holes in it though...
Pontiac was famous for having a Swiss cheese Catalina in 1963. They came with a 421 Super Duty mated to a 4-speed. They were quite rare, I don't know how many were ever made. A friend of mine many years ago back in high school told me about one being for sale. I don't recall for how much, but neither one of us had the money to buy it.
When I hear "Swiss cheese car" my mind conjures up images of aluminum bodied full size Pontiac's with 3-1/2 holes any place they would fit. That's what I thought this thread was about. This stuff is cool, But
Here's my cheesed up road runner, showing how Akron Arlen borrowed ideas from Pontiac, then re-used them on Mopars I think they cut 150 lbs out, just to put a 200 lb bar in it though ... The car was raced for years up in the Akron area.
Fat Jack swiss-cheesed the hell out of his Fat Attack '46 in the mid 80's (or more accurately, his son John did ). Don't have a pic handy but most of the inner panels were ventilated to save a bit of weight. Steve
Interesting question, did Pontiac go to the extreme copying the racers or did the racers copy Pontiac by going to the extreme. Guess it would depend on the era of those pics
