In Jan 2010 my 25 year old brain told my 64 year body it was getting harder and harder to get up and down off the concrete floor. So I thought it was time to build my last hot rod.I have not owned a roadster since 1973 and i've always loved the Kookie style since watching 77 sunset strip in the 50s.So thats the style I decided to build. I know,I'll probably be sorry, buggy springs will beat me to death, the banjo rear end will probably break & the wind,Oh well, don't have any hair to blow.
Enough of the BS. I used the front half of a 27 touring, model A bed, custom made frame, good ole 283 chev engine with glide and a 42 ford rear end. Here's some build pic's from the start till today.

I understand the 25 year old brain and the 62 (for me) body...I can see driving that into the sunset...looks good

  6. I'm a year younger but I think that's my plan also. I've spent the last 3 years building my 29 Roadster ( fiberglass  ) and have come to the same conclusion, I'm gonna paint it in about a month and drive it into the sunset. Have fun.

Oh yea, you have to love those headers. Great looking start on that little roadster and it looks like a lot of fun.

I have most of the major pieces around here to build a somewhat similar car when I get the other projects done.
27 tub front half, 331 Desoto Hemi, banjo rear, A front axle all stashed away waiting for the right time.

I hear ya...I'm 25/64 & no more builds...I'm spending at least 30 minutes a day stretching just to keep things in order. Nice job on the Kookie car...you really captured the essence. Enjoy!

Your 64 year old body is going to love it! Hell at 73 I drive the wheels off my 33 (real deal) and never have a bad outing. It's one of my favorite rides and the one you built is killer looking. Looks like you did a great job and dont worry your body will adapt--LOL

Like it a lot. I saw the way you did the rear crossmember & thought man that thing is going to sit really high, but after seeing it with the headers It looks just right. Great job!

    I got a similar brain/age issue. I think 17/62.

I almost regreted having a 23T, cause there ain't much room. Then I rode in two 26-27's out at speedweek. There ain't any more room in those.

The first couple of days of riding around were not comfortable. But I very soon got used to it and drive it alot. And do 200 mile one way trips without any problem.

If you got 4.11's in the rear, you might want to consider something a little higher. with the 4.11's in mine, it was 4000 @ 80 mph. with OD T-5 it's @ 3000 @ 80. You know you're going out on the interstates with it. And we don't want to be like them goldchainers with the 1000 hp SR's going 45 in the right lane:eek:

You'll love it. You'll hate it. Sometimes I just like to go out to the garage and look at mine.
